India win the 2025 Women’s World Cup, defeat South Africa by 52 runs

India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. The Women in Blue have won the global tournament for the first time. Chasing 299 runs, the Proteas were dismissed for 246 runs, with Deepti Sharma taking five wickets, including the prize scalp of rival captain Laura Wolvaardt. She scored a hundred, but it was not enough. The surprise package was Shafali Verma, who dismissed two batters apart from scoring 87 runs.

Deepti Sharma (58), Smriti Mandhana (45) and Richa Ghosh (34) batted well for India.

Ayabonga Khaka picked up three wickets for South Africa.
