Overview:

Kaur’s family didn’t reveal the news to her to ensure that the player remained focused on the tournament.

Amanjot Kaur was sensational on the field during the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final between India and South Africa. A direct hit by the all-rounder ended Tazmin Brits’ innings, and she also took a juggling catch to end Laura Wolvaardt’s knock of 101 runs. Amanjot contributed with the bat and ball. It was her knock of 57 runs against Sri Lanka in the tournament opener that helped India register a win.

However, the 25-year-old was unaware that her grandmother had suffered a heart attack. Kaur’s family didn’t reveal the news to her to ensure that the player remained focused on the tournament.

“My mother Bhagwanti has always supported Amanjot since the day she started playing cricket. When I was at my shop, she would watch Amanjot play with the boys and girls. After she suffered a heart attack, we didn’t reveal anything to Amanjot, and we have been visiting the hospital for he treatment. The World Cup win has come as a balm for us,” Amanjot’s father told the Indian Express.

Bhupinder further mentioned that Amanjot’s cricket journey started when Nagesh Gupta started coaching her in Chandigarh.

She made her T20I and ODI debut in 2023 and has played 16 matches in both formats. She plays for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Women’s Premier League.
