Klaasen was retained by the franchise before last season’s auction and he was the most expensive player of the team. After him, captain Pat Cummins got Rs 18 crore and Abhishek Sharma got Rs 14 crore.
Klaasen had a slow start to the season but bounced back scoring 487 runs at a strike rate of 172.59. Which included one century and one half-century.
The Times of Newspaper quoted a source as saying, “There are intense discussions going on and if Sunrisers Hyderabad do so, it could indeed be a wise move. Going into the auction with an additional amount of Rs 23 crore would give them a good opportunity to address key deficiencies in their team. To create a lethal bowling attack and strengthen their middle order. They would also stand a good chance of getting Klaasen back for around Rs 15 crore. And with the remaining amount they can buy some effective players.
Kassasen is among the best T-20 batsmen in the world. He can bat explosively at different batting positions and is good against spin as well.
The report also said that changes in bowling are also being considered. Mohammed Shami was bought by the franchise for Rs 10 crore, but despite his poor bowling performance last season, it is not clear whether he will be released or not.
