Kavya Maran, Sunrisers Leeds: Kavya Maran, owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in IPL, has changed the name of her team. However, the name of his team which he has changed is not Sunrisers Hyderabad of IPL but Northern Superchargers of The Hundred League. Kavya Maran has now changed the name of her team playing in The Hundred to Sunrisers Leeds. There were already reports about changing the name of Northern Superchargers before the next season of The Hundred starting in 2026. Now it has just been implemented.
Chennai-based Indian media conglomerate, Sun Group, had acquired Northern Superchargers for Rs 1,155 crore earlier this year. Yorkshire chose to sell its 51% stake in Superchargers in addition to ECB's 49% stake, meaning Sun Group owns 100% of the company. Northern Superchargers is a franchise based in Leeds. This is the reason why Kavya Maran's trademark 'Sunrisers' along with 'Leeds' are included in her new name.
The company formerly known as Northern Superchargers has officially become Sunrisers Leeds.

On behalf of Kavya Maran's Sun Group, documents have been submitted to the Companies House in Leeds regarding the new name. This means that the Superchargers name will be discontinued going forward. The new name of the team will be Sunrisers Leeds. Just like Kavya Maran's team name in IPL is Sunrisers Hyderabad and in SA 20, Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
Northern Superchargers is the third team among the 8 teams playing in The Hundred, whose name has been changed. Similarly, the name of Manchester Originals will be changed to Manchester Super Giants. The name of Oval Invincible is to be changed to Mumbai Indians London.
