IPL 2025 winner Royal Challengers Bangalore has been officially put up for sale by Diageo. The company informed BSE that this is part of the strategic review. The process will be completed by March 2026 and many big companies are showing interest in buying RCB.
Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the winner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, has now been officially put up for sale. The team’s owner company Diageo has taken this decision and it is expected that new owners will be found by March 31, 2026. The process of sale of RCB has started and the company has also disclosed it.
British company Diageo said in a letter sent to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) that the move is part of a “strategic review” of its investment in Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited (RCSPL). RCSPL is 100% owned by United Spirits Limited (USL), which is itself a subsidiary of Diageo.
The letter stated that the business of RCSPL is owned by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team, which participates in the IPL and Women’s Premier League (WPL) organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) every year. This information has come out according to the report of Cricbuzz.
In a cover letter sent to BSE, Diageo and USL said that they are making this disclosure under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The company also said that they want to complete this process by March 31 next year.
USL Managing Director and CEO, Praveen Someshwar said that RCSPL is an important asset for the company, but it is not a part of their core business.
According to the report of Cricbuzz, if RCB comes up for sale then many big companies are showing interest in buying it. These include an American private investment firm and India’s JSW Group.
Apart from this, Adar Poonawala of Adani Group, Serum Institute of India and Ravi Jaipuria of Devyani International Group have also expressed their interest in buying RCB.
