Australia’s Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning and New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr will be included in the auction as they have been released by their teams, ESPNcricinfo reported. But Deepti Sharma, who was the player of the tournament in the World Cup, has also been released by her franchise. Let us tell you that in 2025, Deepti had captained the UP Warriors in the absence of Healy.

Current champions Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have retained five players each. Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained four players, Gujarat Giants two and UP Warriors one. Although it has not been confirmed which player has been retained and for what amount, these players can be retained by the franchises.

Delhi Capitals: Annabel Sutherland, Marizanne Kapp, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Nikki Prasad

Mumbai Indians: Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amanjot Kaur, G Kamalini and Hayley Matthews.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh, Shreyanka Patil

As per the rules of the Women’s Premier League, franchises can retain a maximum of three Indian capped players and two overseas players or two uncapped Indian players. If a franchise wants to retain five players, then as per the rules at least one of them should be an uncapped Indian player. For the first time, the WPL has also allowed franchises to use the right-to-match (RTM) option in the auction to buy back players who are part of their squad in 2025.

Each franchise has been given a purse of Rs 15 crore for the auction to be held on 27th November in Delhi. While announcing the retention rules, WPL also revealed the guideline prices for the retention slabs as INR 3.5 crore (Player 1), INR 2.5 crore (Player 2), INR 1.75 crore (Player 3), INR 1 crore (Player 4) and INR 50 lakh (Player 5). If a franchise chooses to retain five players, INR 9.25 crore will be deducted from its purse of Rs 15 crore, while for four players the deduction will be INR 8.75 crore; INR 7.75 crore for three; INR 6 crore for two; And INR 3.5 crore for one.

In this situation, Delhi and Mumbai will be left with INR 5.75 crore. Whereas Warriors have the highest amount of INR 14.5 crore. Whereas Giants will be left with a purse of INR 9 crore and RCB will be left with INR 6.25 crore.
