Delhi: The excitement was at its peak in the second T20 match played between New Zealand and West Indies. In this match held at Eden Park, New Zealand registered a spectacular victory by defeating West Indies by 3 runs. The match continued till the last over, where the Kiwi team won due to the brilliant batting of Mark Chapman and in the end a strong bowling performance.

Chapman played an important innings

West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl first. New Zealand had a good start, but the run rate slowed down due to the early fall of some wickets in the middle overs. However, Mark Chapman played a brilliant innings and scored 78 runs in 28 balls, which included 6 fours and 7 sixes. Along with him, Darryl Mitchell played a quick inning of 28 runs. Captain Mitchell Santner also took the team to a strong score by scoring 18 runs in the last overs. New Zealand scored 207 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.

For West Indies, Roston Chase took 2 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs, while Matthew Ford and Jason Holder got 1-1 success.

West Indies’ explosive batting could not lead to victory

West Indies had a very bad start while chasing the target. The team lost the wicket of Brandon King in the opening over itself. However, Alec Athanaze (33 runs) and Shai Hope (24 runs) handled the innings. But, after the fall of 6 wickets for 93 runs, it seemed that the match was in the hands of New Zealand.

After this, Rovman Powell and Romario Shepherd made the match exciting by batting brilliantly. Powell scored 45 runs in 16 balls, which included 6 sixes, while Shepherd scored 34 runs in 16 balls. West Indies needed 20 runs in 12 balls in the last over, and at one point victory seemed close. But, Kiwi bowler Kyle Jamieson bowled brilliantly even under pressure and led the team to victory by 3 runs.

Matthew Ford of West Indies also tried to win by scoring 29 runs in 13 balls, but the team could only score 204 runs. For New Zealand, Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets each.

With this victory, New Zealand made a brilliant comeback in the series and enlivened the match against West Indies.
