The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO, K.S. Viswanathan, has confirmed MS Dhoni’s availability for IPL 2026, stating that the wk-batter has committed to play in the next season.

With speculations revolving around MS Dhoni‘s future in the tournament, Vishwanathan’s statement has given the fans the news they wanted.

MS Dhoni, who led CSK to multiple IPL titles, is set to don the yellow jersey once again in the upcoming IPL 2026 season.

According to reports, CSK CEO, K.S. Viswanathan, confirmed MS Dhoni’s availability for IPL 2026, stating, “MS has told us that he will be available for the next season.

Likewise, MS Dhoni, Viswanathan has been the backbone of the five-time champions. With MS Dhoni’s participation in the IPL being a recurring question ahead of the season for the last few years, the CSK CEO’s confirmation should put an end to speculation for at least the 2026 edition.

The team had a disappointing campaign in the 2025 season, having finished at the bottom of the points table. Dhoni led the side for most of the tournament after regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out due to injury.

MS Dhoni has been with the CSK for all the seasons, but has played for the Supergiants for two seasons when CSK has been suspended.

It will be his 17th season for the franchise and his 19th overall in the IPL, having been part of the league since the launch in 2008.

He has featured in 248 matches for CSK, scoring 4865 runs and leading the side to five titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023.

With the announcement that the retention deadline is set for November 15, the franchise is expected to hold consultations with other key franchise personnel, including Viswanathan, head coach Stephen Fleming and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad.

CSK has decided to organise a meeting, which is set to take place on November 10 and 11, when a final decision will be made.

On the other hand, it is reported that Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals have re-established contact over a potential trade involving Samson.

Rajasthan Royals’ owner Manoj Badale has been exploring the options with several franchise managements, including Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Delhi Capitals.
