Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill continued their dazzling form, carving their names into the record books even as rain ruined the fifth T20I in Brisbane.

India’s innings lasted just 4.5 overs before showers halted play, but the openers blazed 52 runs in that short spell.

Their series aggregate of 188 runs became the highest by any batting pair in a T20I series on Australian soil against Australia, eclipsing the 187-run mark set by South Africa’s Dewald Brevis and Tristan Stubbs earlier this year.

Runs Pairs Country Year
188 Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma India 2025
187 Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs South Africa 2025
183 Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma India 2016

Suryakumar Yadav heaped praise on openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, noting that their partnerships not only bring joy to the dressing room but also show growing tactical awareness. The skipper said the duo are evolving well in handling pressure moments in the shortest format.

India got off to a flying start, racing to 52 for no loss in just 4.5 overs before rain stopped the play. Shubman Gill (29 off 16) and Abhishek Sharma (23 off 13) looked in sublime touch.
