In the fifth T20I against Australia, Abhishek Sharma set a new benchmark by becoming the fastest batter to reach 1,000 T20I runs in terms of balls faced.
Abhishek Sharma has been unstoppable in T20Is. Groomed by the legendary Yuvraj Singh, he dominated the series against Australia, helping Suryakumar Yadav’s side secure a 2-1 victory. The southpaw amassed 163 runs in five games, and was named the Player of the Series.
Yuvraj Singh has revealed a secret about Abhishek Sharma. The legendary all-rounder said that the young India opener won’t let anyone touch his bats.
“You can borrow anything from Abhishek Sharma, but nobody can take a bat from him,” Yuvraj said during an interaction with Abhishek present.
“He’ll not give his bat to anyone. Even if he has ten bats, he will say that he has just two willows. He’s taken every bat of mine,” Yuvraj said.

He broke Suryakumar Yadav’s previous record of 573 balls. In terms of innings, Abhishek also became the second quickest Indian to reach 1,000 T20I runs, trailing only Virat Kohli.
