The trade window is in the news before the IPL 2026 auction. In the last few days, many news had come out regarding the trade deal. Amidst all this, the first trade deal of the 19th season has been announced. Under which an interesting deal has been signed between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians. India's experienced all-rounder Shardul Thakur has now become a part of Mumbai Indians. He played for Lucknow Super Giants last season.
Mumbai Indians have bought Shardul Thakur as a cash deal.
That is, there has been no exchange of players between the two teams, rather Mumbai has bought Lucknow Super Giants in cash, for which they have spent Rs 2 crore. Lucknow Super Giants also selected Shardul Thakur as a replacement player last year for Rs 2 crore.IPL press release said, 'After the agreement between the two franchises, Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder Shardul Thakur is all set to play for Mumbai Indians. This all-rounder from Mumbai was selected by Lucknow Super Giants as a replacement for the 18th season of the league, in which he participated in 10 matches.
This all-rounder has been traded by Mumbai Indians for their current player salary of Rs 2 crore.The special thing is that Shardul Thakur has been traded for the third time in the history of IPL.
Earlier in 2017, Rising Pune Supergiant bought him from Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). Then before the 2023 season, Kolkata Knight Riders bought him from Delhi Capitals. Both these deals were completely cash. At the same time, going to Mumbai Indians is a homecoming of sorts for Thakur. He was the assistant bowler of Mumbai Indians from 2010-12. At the same time, Shardul Thakur has played 105 matches in IPL so far. During this period, he has taken 107 wickets while spending runs at an economy of 9.40.
