Mayank Markande Joins Mumbai Indians from KKR Ahead of IPL 2026 Auction

The Mumbai Indians have bolstered the spin attack by acquiring Mayank Markande from the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2026 season.

Markande made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians in 2018, where he enjoyed a breakout season with a memorable three-wicket haul in his very first match.

The 26-year old will bring in lots of experience, along with sharp skills and adaptability to varied pitch conditions also makes him a valuable addition to Mumbai Indian’s bowling group.

Mumbai Indians will be aiming to rebuild their spin reserves after Piyush Chawla’s retirement, Markande’s arrival adds depth, aggression and experience ahead of the IPL 2026.

Kolkata clinched the servies of INR 30 lakh at the mega auction last year but didn’t give him a single game in the entire season.

Mumbai Indians have two wrist spinners Vignesh Puthur and Karn Sharma. With Mayank Markande’s addition, the five time champions will have options in spin department.

Having played 37 IPL games, Mayank Markande picked 37 wickets.

Ahead of the IPL 2026 retention deadline, the ten franchises have started their trades to strengthen their squads ahead of the auction.

Mumbai Indians clinched Shardul Thakur on a trade with LSG. They also clinched the services of Sherfane Rutherford from the Gujarat Titans.

On the morning of November 15, CSK and RR confirmed the conclusion Sanju Samson- Ravindra Jadeja trade, along with Sam Curran joining the Rajasthan Royals.

Delhi Capitals has made a trade deal, clinching Nitish Rana for Donovan Ferreira, who joined the Rajasthan Royals.

Nitish Rana moved to the Delhi Capitals, maintaining his fee of INR 4.2 crore. Meanwhile, All-rounder Donovan Ferreira rejoined the Rajasthan Royals with a revised upward from INR 75 lakh to INR 1 crore as part of the transfer agreement.

India’s 2023 World Cup hero Mohammed Shami has joined Lucknow Super Giants on trade from Sunrisers Hyderabad. Shami will be transferred to LSG at INR 10 crore for IPL 2026 auction.
