Yes, that is what has happened. Actually, Ricky Ponting has revealed that Josh Inglis will not be available for most of the tournament in the upcoming season of IPL, due to which the team thought it right to release him. Whereas PBKS failed to bring out the best performance from Glenn Maxwell last season, due to which the team also decided to release him before the auction.
Ricky Ponting said, “Josh Inglis is a brilliant player. We wanted to retain him, but this year he will not be available for most of the matches of the tournament. In such a situation, it became very difficult to retain him.”
Apart from this, while talking about Glenn Maxwell, he said, “Maxwell is an amazing cricketer. He has the ability to change the course of the game, but last season we failed to get the best out of him. Looking at the current players and the upcoming season, we do not think that he will be able to be a part of our starting playing eleven. That is why the initial decision to release him seems right.”
