India vs South Africa: South Africa has won the first test against India in just 3 days. He defeated the Indian team badly in the test match played in Kolkata. With this strong victory, South Africa has taken a 1-0 lead in the 2-Test series. Besides, the 53 year old record at Eden Gardens has also been broken. South Africa has broken this record of defending the lowest total at Eden Gardens.

South Africa, not India, made this record

South Africa had set a target of 124 runs for India to win. This target did not look very big. But chasing it at Eden Gardens was like climbing a mountain. If the Indian team had succeeded in chasing it, it would have broken its own record set 21 years ago. But this did not happen. On the contrary, the South African team broke the 53 year old record by defending 124 runs.

South Africa beat India by 30 runs

Chasing the target of 124 runs, the Indian team could not even score 100 runs in the second innings. He had already suffered the blow of captain Shubman Gill's absence. After that the remaining 9 wickets fell for only 93 runs in the second innings. The result was that South Africa won by 30 runs and with this won its first Test in India after 15 years.

53 year old record broken

The record for the lowest total defended at Eden Gardens was previously 192 runs, which was held in 1972. But, now after 53 years, South Africa has broken that record by defending 124 runs at Eden Gardens.

The test match reached such a result

Talking about the test match, South Africa had scored 159 runs in the first innings. In reply, India scored 189 runs in the first innings and took a lead of 30 runs. South Africa scored 154 runs in its second innings and gave India a target of 124 runs. But in front of that target, the Indian batting disintegrated badly.
