In the aftermath of India’s defeat to South Africa in the opening Test, Jasprit Bumrah approached Temba Bavuma after controversy. Bumrah and Rishabh Pant were caught on the stump mic, calling Bavuma bauna.

Bumrah showed respect by interacting with Bavuma after the match, offering a handshake.

South Africa pulled off a remarkable comeback after being dismissed for 159 after electing to bat first on day one. They stunned India by 30 runs to claim victory in the first Test at Eden Gardens on Sunday. Chasing 124, India crumbled to 93 in 35 overs on day three.

Simon Harmer was the standout performer with 4-21, as the Proteas’ bowlers dismantled India’s batting line-up on a difficult pitch, where chasing anything above 100 was always going to be challenging.

India misses the presence of Shubman Gill, who was sidelined after neck injury. Temba Bavuma’s composed 55* steadied South Africa’s ship, while a timely 44-run partnership with Bosch took the lead to 123. Harmer’s exceptional spell, along with vital wickets from Jansen, Markram, and Maharaj, left India reeling, as the Proteas sealed a dramatic win.

Harmer was named the Player of the Match for taking 8 wickets in the contest. The second Test will start on November 22 in Assam.
