South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the second Test at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.
“We will bat first. We want to stay fresh, and the boys are willing to perform for the next five days. The wicket looks better, and hopefully it remains the same. We will try to put a big score on the board. The wicket will play well for the first two days, and then it will help the spinners. Happy to be a part of the first Test in Assam,” Temba Bavuma said.
India skipper Rishabh Pant is not worried about the outcome of the toss.
“A proud moment to lead India in Test cricket, and I am thankful to the BCCI for giving me a chance. We are focused, and we want to fight every moment. The wicket looks good for batting, but bowling first is not a bad option. Shubman Gill wanted to play the match, but his body didn’t allow it. We have made two changes with Nitish Kumar Reddy replacing Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan coming in for Axar Patel,” he said.
