Delhi: In the first Test of Ashes 2025, Perth’s second day was in the name of Travis Head. Opening for Australia, he created history by batting brilliantly in the fourth innings against England. Head made many big records in his name by scoring an unbeaten 100 runs in just 69 balls.

With Head’s brilliant innings, he became the second fastest batsman to score a century in Ashes Test history. He surpassed the century scored by Gilbert Jessup in 76 balls against Australia in 1902. The record for the fastest century in the Ashes is still in the name of Adam Gilchrist, who scored a hundred in just 57 balls in 2006.

Along with this he made two more important records. Jointly fastest century by any opener in Test cricket. Fastest Test century while chasing runs in the fourth innings.

Head also broke his own previous record with this innings, as his previous fastest Test century was in 85 balls. This century from Australia is the joint third fastest century in Test cricket. This record is equal to the century scored by David Warner against India in Perth (2011).

Head also has the third fastest fifty in Test matches where ball-by-ball data is available. He completed his half-century in 36 balls, which is equal to Kevin Pietersen.
