Delhi: In the second Test match being played between India and South Africa at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, the captain of the visiting team Temba Bavuma achieved a big achievement. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bavuma came to play at number four in the innings of the visiting team and completed 1000 runs as a captain in his Test career.

Bavuma is the ninth captain of South Africa to score 1000 test runs.

Before the match, Bavuma had 969 runs in his name as captain. He needed 31 runs to achieve this milestone, which he achieved by hitting a four in the 49th over. With this, he became the ninth player to score 1000 runs while captaining South Africa.

Bavuma became the second fastest African captain

Temba Bavuma has also become the joint second fastest African batsman to complete 1000 runs as captain. Graeme Smith tops this list, who achieved this feat in just 17 innings. Bavuma accomplished this feat in 20 innings.
