ODI cricket is to be played after the Test series between India and South Africa. Now Team India has also been announced for this series. The selection committee meeting was held on the second day of the second test match in Guwahati, in which KL Rahul was made the captain for the ODI series. Rahul has been given this responsibility after the absence of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer. Team captain Gill was injured in the Kolkata Test, while vice-captain Iyer was injured during the ODI series on the Australia tour and has been out since then.

Rahul returns as captain after 2 years, Jadeja returns

This 3-match series between India and South Africa will start from Sunday 30th November in Ranchi. But this time Rahul will take charge of the team. The team's wicketkeeper-batsman Rahul will again be seen captaining the team in this format after two years. Incidentally, last time also he was captaining Team India in the ODI series against South Africa in 2023.

Talking about the squad, as per expectations, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been selected in the team. But apart from these, 4 players are returning to this form, the biggest name of which is star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja, who was part of the team in the Champions Trophy, was not selected on the Australia tour, after which questions were being raised on his ODI career, but Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar had then refuted these speculations and said that Jadeja was part of the plan.

Rishabh Pant also returned, Axar Patel out

Like Jadeja, another big name is Rishabh Pant. Pant has returned to Team India in this format for the first time after Champions Trophy 2025. However, he did not get a chance to play even a single match in the Champions Trophy and Rahul took the responsibility of wicketkeeping. In such a situation, it will be worth seeing whether he will get a chance in this series or not. Apart from these, Ruturaj Gaikwad is also returning to the ODI team for the first time after 2023, while middle order batsman Tilak Verma has also been given a chance.

Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is being given constant rest in this format, while fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has also been given a break from this series. Due to Jadeja's return, spin-allrounder Akshar Patel has been dropped from the team for this series. The first match of the series will be played on 30 November in Ranchi, the second on 3 December in Raipur and the last match on 6 December in Visakhapatnam.
