The second test was the 100th match of Mushfiqur Rahim’s career and he made it historic. He scored a brilliant century in the first innings, while scored an unbeaten half-century in the second innings.

Delhi: In the second Test match played in Dhaka, Bangladesh defeated Ireland by 217 runs and made a clean sweep of the two-match series 2-0. Bangladesh also won the first test by an innings margin.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s 100th Test memorable

The second test was the 100th match of Mushfiqur Rahim’s career and he made it historic. He scored a brilliant century in the first innings, while scored an unbeaten half-century in the second innings. By scoring a total of 159 runs, he played an important role in the team’s victory, for which he was chosen Player of the Match.

Strong batting by Liton Das and top order

Apart from Mushfiqur, Liton Das played an important century inning of 128 runs.

Shadman Islam (78) and Mahmudul Hasan Joy (60) together made a partnership of 119 runs. Mominul Haq also contributed 87 runs. On the basis of these innings, Bangladesh declared the innings after scoring 476 runs in the first innings and 297/4 runs in the second innings. The team did not give follow-on to Ireland.

The magic of Taijul Islam’s spin

Taijul Islam bowled lethally in the series and was the player of the series. He took four wickets each in both the innings of the second test.

With this he became the first Bangladeshi bowler to complete 250 Test wickets.

Ireland’s batting failed again

Ireland was out for 265 runs in the first innings, while in the second innings, Curtis Camper (71 not out) and Harry Tector (50) tried to take the match to the fifth day, but the team was reduced to 291 runs and Bangladesh won the match by 217 runs. Both the teams will now play a three-match T20 International series in Chittagong from November 29.
