Delhi: South Africa has made its position very strong against India in the second test match being played at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The host team scored a huge score of 489 runs in the first innings, in response to which India had scored 9 runs without losing any wicket by the end of the second day’s play. KL Rahul is unbeaten on 2 runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal is unbeaten on 7 runs. India is currently 480 runs behind on the basis of first innings.
Although the match situation does not seem in favor of India, but former Indian coach Anil Kumble is still hopeful of Team India’s victory. After the end of the second day’s play, he told the broadcaster that the pitch would break more from the third day and the role of spinners would be important. Kumble said that, however, this pitch is favorable for batting, and if the Indian batsmen show wisdom then it will not be difficult to score runs. He also added that the first six sessions were challenging for India, but if the team bats strongly on the third and fourth days, then India can turn the match situation in its favor in the second innings.
South Africa made a good start after winning the toss and batting first. Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickleton added 82 runs for the first wicket. Markram was out after scoring 38 runs and Rickleton after scoring 35 runs. After this, Tristan Stubbs and captain Temba Bavuma took the score forward by adding 84 runs for the third wicket. South Africa looked to be in trouble after falling by six wickets for 246 runs, but Senuran Muthusamy and Kyle Warren took control of the team by adding 88 runs for the seventh wicket. Jadeja broke this partnership and dismissed Vereen for 45 runs.
After Vereen’s dismissal, Muthusamy got excellent support from Marco Jansen. Both of them added 97 runs for the eighth wicket and took the team’s score beyond 400.
