What did Sam Curran say after defeating Chennai?
After the spectacular win against Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings captain Sam Curran said during the post match presentation,
“I am very happy. Whenever you come to Chennai and win, it is always a special feeling. Like last year, this time too we have lost a lot of matches at home and won away. We are in a situation right now where we have to win all our matches.”
“I think when you come to Chennai, you realize how hot it is and how much dew there is going to be. Today we wanted to do something different by trying Rabada in the powerplay. We wanted to use our spinners later on, so tried to try Kagiso within the powerplay.”
“Chahar made a good comeback and when we conceded 260 runs, he was our best bowler. He is bowling with a lot of confidence. When I asked him to bowl against MSD in the 19th over, he did not hold back.”
Sam Curran praised his players
When Sam Curran was pressed as to why the 19th spinner was made, he said, “The fast bowlers were a bit expensive towards the end, and I wanted to try something different. I asked Riley Rossouw what he thought and we tried our luck with a spin. In this game where everyone is going for runs, you need to take such gambles. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.”
“Today was a new match, new conditions and this win will give us a lot of confidence. I think our bowlers were brilliant, the spinners were played very well by Jonny, even the way we chased the target was brilliant. There is a need to increase this confidence further.”
