Delhi: Former Indian team wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has got a big responsibility in England.
Ahead of The Hundred 2026 season, he has been given a place in the coaching staff of the London Spirit men’s team. Karthik has been made the mentor and batting coach of the team. This is the first time that he has been associated with a franchise in this league and will strengthen the team with his experience.Karthik becomes coach of London Spirit after RCB
40 year old Karthik has played more than 180 international matches for India in all formats. He also played 257 matches in IPL from 2008 to 2024.
Recently he has also made his mark as a coach. He was the batting coach and mentor of RCB in IPL 2025 and in his presence the team won its first IPL title.London Spirit’s Director of Cricket Mo Bobt said that it is very important for Karthik to join the team. Bobat himself is in the same role in RCB. He said that Karthik looks at cricket with a different mindset and his experience of shorter formats will be a big advantage for the team. His energy and enthusiasm will make the team stronger.
Regarding his new role, Karthik said that being associated with London Spirit is very special for him.
He told that after hearing the plan of Mo, MCC and Tech Titans, he immediately agreed. Working at Lord’s in the English summer is like a dream come true for him because he played his first and last Test match for India on this ground. Karthik said that he is eagerly waiting for the next season and wants to do good work with the team.
