The shadow of match fixing is once again looming over Indian cricket. Strict action has been taken against 4 players for trying to carry out match fixing during the country's major domestic tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025. According to the information, Assam Cricket Association has suspended 4 of its own players. These players are accused of instigating the members of the current Assam team to indulge in corrupt activities. It is alleged that these attempts took place between 26 November and 8 December during the matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, in which Assam was eliminated from the group stage itself. Let us tell you that BCCI Secretary Dewajit Saikia is a part of Assam Cricket.

Action against these 4 players

The real cricket association issued a press release on Friday 12th December and made this shocking revelation. According to this, Amit Sinha, Ishan Ahmed, Aman Tripathi and Abhishek Thakuri have been suspended by the association from participating in any kind of cricket. All four are accused of trying to influence the players of Assam during the Mushtaq Ali Trophy. All four have played for Assam at different levels.

FIR against all four

Assam Cricket has lodged an FIR against the accused in this case with the Crime Branch. In its statement, the association said, "After the allegations came to light, BCCI's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) investigated them. ACA also initiated a criminal investigation. Prima facie, his involvement has been found in serious allegations, which has affected the integrity of the game... Due to this, he has been suspended only to prevent the situation from worsening."

ACA has banned all four from taking part in any kind of cricket activity in the entire state. Until the investigation is completed and a clean chit is given to them, none of them will be able to participate in any level of cricket tournament in the state. The association has informed the cricket units of all the districts about this. However, at present it is not clear whether they were successful in influencing any player or match or not.

The accused player was playing Ranji Trophy

The most surprising name in this is that of Abhishek Thakuri, who was playing for Assam in Ranji Trophy just a few days before the start of Mushtaq Ali Trophy. This opener had participated in matches against Services and Tripura. During this period, Thakuri batted in 3 innings and his scores were 9, 20 and 20 runs. However, it is not clear at the moment whether Thakuri's performance in these matches is also under scrutiny or not. Last year also Thakuri had played Vijay Hazare Trophy and Ranji Trophy matches. Whereas Amit Sinha played Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches in 2021.
