The wait is almost over and now the countdown for IPL 2026 auction has started. There are less than 60 hours left for the player auction to be held in Abu Dhabi. In such a situation, along with the players, the heartbeats of the fans have also started increasing. This time a mini auction is being organised, so this program will be completed in just one day i.e. on 16th December. The day may seem the same but the tension and excitement will not diminish. Especially the eyes are on whether for the first time in the history of IPL auction, there will be a bid of up to Rs 30 crore? Will Rishabh Pant's record be broken? If yes, who can do this?

Cameron Green can become the first Rs 30 crore

In this matter, there is only one name on everyone's lips and that is Cameron Green. This young superstar all-rounder from Australia has left his special mark in international cricket in the last 2-3 years. Cameron Green, who is about 6 feet 8 inches tall, has also shown his talent in 2 seasons of IPL. now once again auction He is going to enter because he could not play last season due to injury. In such a situation, this time in the auction he is considered to be the hottest candidate and the maximum amount of money is expected to be showered on him.

But how high can the bid be on Cameron Green? Can he break Rishabh Pant's record? Let us refresh your memories that last year in the mega auction, Lucknow Super Giants had bought Pant for Rs 27 crore, which is a record. This time, franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings are entering with huge auction purses and in such a situation, it is believed that there can be a strong bid for Cameron Green between the two and it should not be a surprise if it goes beyond Rs 27 crores.

Still will not get the full amount

Now how big the bid is on the Australian all-rounder or any other player, it will be known only on December 16. But one thing has already become clear before the auction that no matter how high the bid is for Green or any other foreign player, they will not get a salary more than Rs 18 crore. Yes, whether the bid is for Rs 20 crore, Rs 25 crore or even Rs 30 crore, you will get only Rs 18 crore. The reason for this is a special rule of BCCI, which it had made for foreign players after the complaint of the franchise.

What do the rules of IPL say?

Before the mega auction of last season, BCCI had made a rule that foreign players cannot get more money than Indian players. Especially in the mini auction, they cannot collect more salary than the Indian players, no matter how big the bid is. This rule is something like this - the auction fee of a foreign player in the mini auction cannot be more than the highest retention slab of the mega auction (18 crores in this case) or the highest bid of the mega auction.

The lower of the retention slab or the highest bid will be the limit of auction fees for foreign players. In the last mega auction, the highest category of retention fee was Rs 18 crore. The highest bid in the mega auction was Rs 27 crore, which was placed on Pant. In this situation the retention fee is less. If the highest bid in the mega auction was Rs 15 or Rs 16 or Rs 17 crore, then foreign players cannot get more money than that in the mini auction.

Who will get the remaining money?

That means Cameron Green or Liam Livingston or Matisha Patirana or any foreign player cannot get a salary of more than Rs 18 crore in IPL 2026. However, the bid on him may be higher than this and if the player is sold, the same price will be deducted from the auction purse of that franchise. But after deducting Rs 18 crore salary from the auction bid, whatever outstanding amount will be deposited with BCCI, which will be used by the Indian Board for the welfare of the players.
