Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26: Team India is currently playing a 5-match T20 series against South Africa. Before this, 2 Test and 3 ODI matches have also been played. Amidst these matches, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a big decision. BCCI has issued a new order for the players of ODI and T20 team, under which they will have to play at least 2 matches each in an important domestic tournament. The special thing is that every player will have to follow these instructions.

New order for Team India players

According to media reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, taking a big decision, has asked all the players of the Indian ODI and T20 team to play at least two matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. This instruction has been taken to maintain the match fitness of the players and to strengthen domestic cricket. Vijay Hazare Trophy is India's important domestic List A tournament, which is going to start from 24th December.

This decision will especially impact those senior players who have been away from domestic cricket for a long time due to international schedules. As per BCCI policy, centrally contracted players are required to participate in domestic tournaments whenever they are free from national duty. With this, not only will the players be able to practice matches continuously, but the young players will also get a chance to learn from the seniors. Earlier, during Ranji Trophy also, many senior players had entered the field for their respective teams.

Virat Kohli will also take part

Virat Kohli is certain to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (List-A tournament) to be held from 24 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. Virat Kohli has already informed Delhi Cricket Association about his availability, according to reports he is going to play a total of 2 matches. Virat played the last Virat Vijay Hazare Trophy match 16 years ago in 2010. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma can also be seen in this tournament. Rohit Sharma last played in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 on 17 October.
