The concerns of franchises regarding Bangladeshi players may increase in the IPL 2026 mini auction going to be held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday (December 16). According to reports, the seven Bangladeshi players shortlisted for the auction may not be available for the entire season, which may affect the teams’ strategy.

According to a Cricbuzz report, the proposed six-match white-ball series between Bangladesh and New Zealand can only be played during IPL 2026. In such a situation, the absence of Bangladeshi players in the initial matches is considered certain.

This list includes Mustafizur Rahman (2 crore base price), Rishad Hussain, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzeem Hasan Shakib, Nahid Rana, Rakibul Hasan and Mohammad Shoriful Islam. Of these, Mustafizur Rahman is most likely to be bought, while some teams may also keep an eye on Taskin Ahmed (75 lakh base price) and Rishad Hussain (75 lakh base price).

However, if Bangladesh Cricket Board gives NOC, these players can be available for IPL after the end of the New Zealand series. Despite this, franchises will have to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to bet on a foreign player with partial availability.

Now it will be interesting to see whether the franchises bid for Bangladeshi players keeping in mind the limited availability of them.
