The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction concluded on Tuesday, December 16, in Abu Dhabi, and it once again lived up to its reputation of producing headline-grabbing moments. While several established stars attracted hefty price tags, the auction was particularly rewarding for a few players whose final bids skyrocketed compared to their base prices. These cricketers emerged as the biggest gainers in terms of value multiplication, transforming modest base prices into massive contracts.

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was the fifth-highest gainer of the auction. He was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a staggering INR 25.20 crore, representing a 12.6-times jump from his base price of INR 2 crore.

Green previously featured for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru but missed the previous IPL season due to injury. Despite that setback, franchises showed immense faith in his all-round abilities. His acquisition made him the most expensive overseas player in the history of the IPL auction.

Mangesh Yadav enjoyed a breakout moment after being bought by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for INR 5.20 crore from a base price of just INR 30 lakh.

The left-handed all-rounder impressed on the domestic circuit, particularly in the Madhya Pradesh Premier League, where he claimed 14 wickets in six matches. Representing the Gwalior Cheetahs, Yadav registered three four-wicket hauls, showcasing his ability to dominate the middle overs. His knack for contributing with the bat further boosted his appeal, resulting in a 17.3-times rise in value.

Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi was one of the surprise packages of the auction.

Bought by Delhi Capitals for INR 8.40 crore, Nabi’s price surged 28 times from his base price. Known for his disciplined bowling, Nabi has been impressive in domestic red-ball cricket and has delivered consistent performances in white-ball formats as well. His ability to swing the new ball and maintain control through the middle overs makes him a valuable asset, particularly in Indian conditions.

2) Prashant Veer

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made headlines by signing uncapped left-arm spinner Prashant Veer for INR 14.20 crore, an astonishing 47.3-times increase from his base price.

Veer, who also contributes as a middle-order batter, rose to prominence in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League while representing Noida Super Kings. In 12 T20 matches, he has scored 112 runs at a strike rate of 167.16 and picked up 12 wickets in nine innings at an impressive economy of 6.45.

Joining Veer at the top of the list is Kartik Sharma, who was also acquired by CSK for INR 14.20 crore, marking an identical 47.3-times jump from his base price. The 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Rajasthan shot to fame after scoring a century on his Ranji Trophy debut in the 2024-25 season. He further impressed in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, amassing 334 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 164, including 28 sixes, making him one of the most exciting young prospects in the auction.
