The IPL auction isn’t always about shattering records; sometimes, it’s the quiet, smart buys that win you trophies. In the 2026 Mini Auction, franchises were on the hunt for bargains, and a few teams walked away with absolute steals. Here are six players who offer incredible value for money this season.
Lucknow Super Giants pulled off arguably the steal of the day. Getting a world-class wrist-spinning all-rounder like Hasaranga at his base price is almost unheard of. He brings an international pedigree and wicket-taking ability that far outweighs the cost.
LSG doubled down on high-reward gambles by picking up Nortje for just ₹2 Cr. While his injury history is a concern, the upside is huge. If he stays fit, his express pace gives Lucknow an intimidating edge that few other bowlers can match at this price point.
It’s a homecoming for QDK as he returns to the Mumbai Indians. Snapping up an experienced left-handed opener and wicketkeeper for a mere ₹1 Cr base price is a masterstroke. He knows the MI culture inside out and adds immediate stability to the top order.
Delhi Capitals needed stability, and they found it in Nissanka. He acts as the perfect steady anchor, allowing DC’s aggressive stroke-makers to play freely around him. At ₹4 Cr, he is a reliable investment for the top order.
Gujarat Titans spent a bit more here, but for good reason. Holder is the perfect T20I cricketer. As a seam-bowling all-rounder, he instantly solves balance issues, giving GT much-needed depth in both batting and bowling departments. Furthermore, thanks to his athletic and tall frame, he is a gun-fielder in the field too.
For the defending champions, this is a savvy move. Getting the World No. 2nd-ranked T20I bowler for just his base price is incredible business. Duffy looks like the perfect replacement for Josh Hazlewood, but he could also feature alongside him to create a formidable duo. He is exactly what RCB needed to boost the quality of their pace attack without breaking the bank.
