Devon Conway, NZ vs WI: The auction of players for IPL 2026 took place on 16 December. Where Devon Conway had kept his base price at Rs 2 crore. But, even at this amount, no IPL franchise bought him. Now two days later, i.e. on 18th December, in the very next match, in his very next innings, he gave a befitting reply with his bat. Devon Conway has scored a century in the first innings of the third Test being played against West Indies. Of course, IPL is a white ball game and Devon Conway has scored a century in red ball cricket. But this definitely shows that Conway is in form.
Devon Conway completed his tremendous century in 149 balls in the first innings of the third Test against West Indies. During this period, he hit the balls beyond the boundary 17 times. All the boundaries came in the form of fours for Conway to reach his century. This is the sixth Test century of left-handed batsman Devon Conway. This is his first Test century against West Indies.
Devon Conway came out to open for New Zealand, who came to bat first in the third Test against West Indies. Opening with Tom Latham, he not only completed his hundred but also made a record partnership. The pair of Conway and Latham seems to be gradually creating new dimensions of success in terms of scoring runs in partnership.
Before the start of the third Test, Conway and Latham were New Zealand's 7th most successful pair in terms of scoring runs as a partner. But, now he has reached the top 3. So far, more than 1900 runs have been scored in the partnership made in both the tests.
After Devon Conway's century from one end in the third Test against West Indies, Tom Latham has also scored a century from the other end. New Zealand's Test captain Latham scored the 15th century of his Test career.
Talking about Devon Conway's Test career, he made his debut against England in the year 2021. Since then, he has scored more than 2300 runs in the 32 tests he has played.
He made his debut for CSK in IPL in the year 2022. From then till 2025, he played IPL with CSK only. During this period, he scored 1080 runs in 29 IPL matches. His highest score in IPL was 92 runs not out. But CSK released him before the IPL 2026 auction, after which Conway had to enter the auction. But this time he did not find any buyer.
