Delhi: The last match of India and South Africa T20I series is to be played on 19 December. Before the match, the team has suffered a big blow, because vice-captain Shubman Gill will not be able to play the match due to injury. India is ahead 2-1 after four matches in this five-match T20 series. The fourth T20 match to be played in Lucknow was canceled due to dense fog.
Shubman Gill out of last T20
Shubman was hit by a ball in his leg during practice on 16 December. Due to this injury, he could not play even in the fourth T20. Then it was expected that he would be fit by the last match to be held in Ahmedabad. But now it has become clear that he will not be able to play this match also.
There is no official statement from BCCI yet on his exit. The selectors will not include any new players in the team for the last match. In such a situation, Sanju Samson may get a chance in the playing eleven.
Shubman’s ordinary performance against South Africa
This tour of South Africa has not been good for Shubman Gill. He could not play any match due to neck injury during the Test series. After this he remained out of the ODI series also. He made a comeback through the T20 series but while opening, he could score only 32 runs in three innings. He was also out in one innings without opening the account. After this performance, questions are being raised about his place in the T20 team.
