Delhi: In the third Test of the Ashes Series 2025-26 being played against England at the Oval ground in Adelaide, Australia’s star batsman Travis Head created history by scoring a brilliant century on the third day. He completed his century by hitting a four off Joe Root. Head faced 146 balls in this innings.
Adelaide Oval has become a very special ground for Travis Head. Along with this, he achieved the feat of scoring a century in the fourth consecutive Test match on the same ground. Earlier, Head had scored a century twice against West Indies and once against India in Adelaide.
With this century, Head also equaled a special record of the great batsman Don Bradman. Head’s name has now been included in the club of select batsmen who have scored centuries in four consecutive Test matches on an Australian ground.
If we look at the statistics of the left-handed batsman at Adelaide Oval, his performance has been very impressive. He has scored a total of 780 runs in 11 innings of 8 test matches played here. During this period his average has been 86.66. So far, he has scored four centuries and two half-centuries with his bat in Adelaide.
Talking about the last four Test matches, Head had played innings of 175 and 38 not out against West Indies in Adelaide in 2022. After this, in 2024 he scored 119 runs against West Indies. Head played an inning of 140 runs in the Adelaide Test during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. Now he has taken this trend forward by scoring a century in the second innings against England.
Travis Head has now joined the few batsmen who have scored centuries in four consecutive Test matches on an Australian ground. Veteran batsmen like Don Bradman, Wally Hammond, Michael Clarke and Steve Smith are already present in this special list.
