Sanju Samson has secured his place in the national squad for next year’s T20 World Cup, and the Kerala star celebrated the news with a heartfelt message of confidence and pride. Taking to Instagram, Samson posted an artistic illustration of himself in the Indian jersey, looking skyward with determination, along with the caption, “Colors will not fade, definitely!!” His continued selection reflects his steady performances and renewed belief at the international level.

Ishan Kishan has been selected as India’s backup wicketkeeper-batter, while Sanju Samson is expected to partner Abhishek Sharma at the top of the batting order.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the squad on Saturday, with secretary Devajit Saikia revealing the team at the board’s headquarters, joined by captain Suryakumar Yadav and chief selector Ajit Agarkar.

Gill has been omitted from the squad amid ongoing doubts surrounding his fitness and recent form. He was already unavailable for the fifth T20I against South Africa after picking up a foot injury before the fourth game, which was eventually abandoned due to fog. Since returning to the T20I setup during the Asia Cup as vice-captain on the back of a strong Test series in England, he has not been able to reproduce that success in the shortest format.

Across 15 T20I appearances, he managed just 291 runs, averaging 24.25 and a strike rate of over 137. During this period, he didn’t score even one half-century, with 47 being his highest contribution.

Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma have been confirmed as India’s first-choice opening duo, while Rinku Singh has also earned a return to the squad. Rinku last played for India against Australia. However, the game was called off due to rain.
