In the third test against West Indies, Jacob Duffy led New Zealand to a big victory by taking five wickets. He broke the old record of Sir Richard Hadlee and became the Player of the Series. Ravichandran Ashwin praised his performance and called the purchase of RCB a big deal.
Delhi: New Zealand’s fast bowler Jacob Duffy made a big record in his name by performing brilliantly in the third test against West Indies. In this match, Duffy took 5 wickets for 42 runs in 22.3 overs and led the team to a big victory of 323 runs.
With this performance, Duffy broke the 40-year-old record of great player Sir Richard Hadlee. Duffy has taken 81 wickets so far in the year 2025. Earlier, Hadlee had taken 79 wickets in a calendar year in 1985. Duffy made this record with an excellent average in 39 innings.
After the match, Duffy said that it was special for him to see his name in the list of such big players. He told that when he saw the list of bowlers who took the most wickets, that moment was very memorable for him.
Duffy took a total of 23 wickets in this entire test series. He was chosen Player of the Series for his excellent performance. New Zealand started the World Test Championship on a strong note by winning this series 2-0.
India’s legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also openly praised Duffy. Praising IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Ashwin said that buying Duffy at the base price of Rs 2 crore will prove to be a huge benefit.
The former off-spinner wrote on the social media platform X that Jacob Duffy has emerged as an excellent player and the year 2025 has been the most important year of his career.
Ashwin also said that Duffy is currently the second ranked bowler in the world in T20 international cricket. According to him, at the age of 31, Duffy is in the best phase of his game.
Ashwin finally wrote that buying Jacob Duffy for Rs 2 crore is a tremendous deal for RCB and it can prove to be very beneficial for the team.
