In a major boost to women cricketers, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to come up with an uniform payment structure at the domestic level.

In its Apex Council meeting on Monday, it was decided that for the senior women’s domestic tournaments, players featuring in the final XI will receive Rs. 50,000 per day, while Rs. 25000 will be given per day to the reserves.

According to sources, for the T20 matches, the fees will be Rs. 25,000 for those in the playing XI, while Rs. 12,500 will be for reserves.

For junior women’s tournaments, Rs. 25,000 will be given per day to the playing XI and Rs. 12,500 per day for reserves. For T20 matches, the fees will be Rs. 11,500 for the playing XI and Rs. 6,250 for being in reserves.

In an effort to develop women’s cricket further, the BCCI felt that increasing match fees will attract more cricketers to the sport.

While it’s a significant rise for the women’s game, there’s still quite a bit of difference between men’s and women’s cricket pay structure.

The BCCI currently pays Rs. 60,000 a day to a player who has played more than 40 Ranji games, Rs. 50,000 to those who have played between 21 and 40 games and Rs. 40,000 for those who’ve featured in 20 games or fewer, with the reserves earning Rs 30,000, Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 20,000 in the respective categories.
