NEW DELHI: New Zealand have announced their ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming tour of India, with left-arm orthodox bowler Jayden Lennox receiving his first senior international call-up.
The tour will feature three ODIs followed by five T20Is and will form a key part of New Zealand’s build-up to the 2026 men’s T20 world cup.
Lennox has been rewarded for his consistent performances in domestic white-ball cricket and with New Zealand “A”. He has been named in the ODI squad alongside another uncapped player, Kristian Clarke.
Kyle Jamieson returns straight into both the ODI and T20I squads following his recovery, providing a significant boost to New Zealand’s pace attack.
Mitchell Santner has been named only in the T20I squad as part of a cautious return-to-play plan while he continues his recovery from a groin injury.
Michael Bracewell will captain New Zealand during the ODI series in Santner’s absence.
He will be supported by an experienced leadership group that includes Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, Will Young and Henry Nicholls.
Test captain Tom Latham will miss the ODI series as he remains in New Zealand for the birth of his third child.
Frontline seamer Matt Henry has also been ruled out of the ODIs as he continues rehabilitation from a calf injury, though he is expected to return during the T20I series.
Nathan Smith, Blair Tickner and Mark Chapman were not considered for ODI selection due to ongoing injury management.
Chapman is on track to return for the T20Is, while Kane Williamson is unavailable for the ODI squad due to SA20 commitments.
Jacob Duffy and Rachin Ravindra have been rested from the ODI series after featuring continuously since the start of the home summer.
Mitch Hay will take the gloves for the ODI series. Devon Conway will handle wicketkeeping duties during the T20Is.
