BCCI Revises Women’s Cricketers Pay Structure in Domestic Cricket

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to make a significant revision in the pay structure for Women domestic cricketers.

BCCI has increased the fees for women cricketers from INR 20,000 to INR 50,000 per day in domestic cricket.

India’s triumph in the 2025 ODI World Cup has given a significant boost to Indian cricketers, prompting the BCCI to revise its payment system. The board has more than doubled the match fees for domestic women cricketers.

Harmanpreet Kaur-led India clinched thier maiden Women’s World Cup title after beating South Africa in a thrilling final.

This major change has enhanced the pay structure to players in the playing 11. However, the BCCI’s revised pay structure is applicable for reserve players also. Reserves will earn INR 25,000 per day, up from INR 10,000 providing better financial security for the wider squad.

Earlier under Jay Shah’s leadership as BCCI secretary between 2019 and 2024, the board has embraced pay equality and expanded professional leagues for women cricketers, along with grassroots investement and greater visbility.

This has empowered India Women cricketers who now inspire millions of girls to take up cricket.

His tenure at BCCI marked by bold reforms that have elevated women’s sports both and off the field. One of the most ground breaking moves during his tenure was pay equality between male and female cricketers, a decision which in the long run, commmunicated an essential point about equality and respect for both genders.

This was followed by the launch of the professional women’s cricket league WPL, where women cricketers across the globehad long requested.

WPL‘s inception has provided women cricketers with a platform that not only gives a wider audience but also the financial stability and a competitive platform where they can sharp their skills while playing along side other super stars.
