A solid knock from Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant has made a decent total for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 game against Gujarat on December 26.
Virat Kohli completed his half-century in just 29 balls and made a 77-run knock in 61 deliveries, which included 13 fours and 1 six. He missed his second successive century after being dismissed by Vishal Jayswal.
On the other hand, Rishabh Pant started off slow, ultimately making 70 runs off 79 deliveries. Meanwhile, Delhi’s other reowned names like IPL stars Priyansh Arya, Nitish Rana and Ayush Badoni failed to make an impression.
Kohli appeared well on touch with his 59th list A century but his innings ended unexpectedly. Attempting to advance down the track, Kohli missed the turning delivery as the wicketkeeper completed a sharp stumping.
Despite the dismissal, the innings stood out for Kohli’s attack mindset and shot selection. Virat was in brilliant form as he shown his skills with reverse sweep, and troubled spinners.
Earlier in this tournament, Kohli had smashed a 131 against Andhra, helping Delhi chase down a stiff target with ease. During that innings, he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest batter to 16,000 List A runs, achieving the milestone in just 330 innings.
Virat Kohli also holds the record for being the fastest to every 1,000 run milestone 10,000 List A runs.
Virat Kohli has been impressive form over the past two months. He was recently named Player of the Series in India’s ODI series against South Africa, where he scored two centuries and a half century.
Earlier, Virat Kohli has been confirmed to play in the first two matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy and it remains unclear over his participation in the further games of the tournament.
If he misses the rest of the tournament, he will be expected to show in ODI series against New Zealand in January.
