Dominance of bowlers, test of batsmen

The Melbourne Test pitch was no less than a paradise for the bowlers. A total of 20 wickets fell on the very first day of the match. At the same time, by the beginning of the second session on the second day, Australia’s second innings had also ended. Due to the fall of wickets so quickly, questions have been raised about the nature and future of Test cricket.

Concern over the future of Test cricket

Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg has also expressed concern about the pitch. He said that falling 20 wickets in a single day could be an alarm bell for the Test format. While talking to Sen Cricket, Greenberg admitted that such matches make him anxious and he does not sleep properly on such nights.

Record viewership, but the challenge remains

Greenberg expressed happiness over the huge presence of spectators at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He told that during this Test match, a record 94,000 spectators were present in MCG, which is a great sign for Test cricket. However, he also said that the real challenge is to ensure that the audience continues to get such an exciting and balanced experience every day.
