Delhi: Odisha fast bowler Rajesh Mohanty has made history in List A cricket. He has become the first player from his state to take a hat-trick in List A. He did this brilliant performance against Services in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 match on 26 December. This match was played at Aloor Cricket Stadium in Bengaluru.

The Services team could not stand against the lethal bowling of Rajesh and were reduced to 83 runs in just 21.5 overs. In response, Odisha achieved the target by losing six wickets and won the match by four wickets.

Rajesh Mohanty completed his hat-trick by taking three wickets in three consecutive balls in the seventh over. He bowled Sagar Dahiya first. Then Ayush Shukla was out LBW. After this Ravi Chauhan returned to the pavilion without opening the account.

Mohanty took three wickets for 25 runs in nine overs. He got good support from Sambit S Baral who took four wickets in 8.5 overs. Badal Biswal also took two wickets. This score was the second lowest score of Services in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Mohanty’s record

Mohanty’s domestic record has also been strong. He has taken 41 wickets in 38 List A matches so far. In first class cricket, he has 124 wickets in 34 matches. In T20 cricket, he has taken 27 wickets in 28 innings.

This performance has come at a time when Mohanty remained unsold in the mini auction of IPL 2026. He had given the name at a base price of Rs 30 lakh, but he could not find any buyer.

Rajesh is a right arm medium fast bowler. He was born on 20 May 2000. He has played for India Under 19, Odisha and Odisha B. He entered List A cricket in the year 2018 in Vijay Hazare Trophy.
