The new season of Australia's T20 tournament, Big Bash League, is progressing vigorously. There have been some amazing matches so far. Some surprising and shocking scenes have also been seen. A similar scene was seen in the match between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder, where a horrific accident was avoided. Pakistan's star fast bowler Haris Rauf and Australia's Hilton Cartwright could have fallen prey to this accident, but luck favored both of them and they narrowly escaped.
On Sunday, December 28, both the teams were face to face in the 14th match of BBL 2025. Sydney Thunder was batting first in this. The last over of his innings was going on and Tom Curran was bowling. The fourth ball of his over was lifted high in the air by the Thunder batsman. The ball bounced between backward point and deep point. In such a situation, point fielder Haris Rauf ran to take the catch and a major accident was saved here.
In fact, Cartwright, posted at the boundary, also ran to catch the catch. Now both the fielders were coming from opposite directions to catch the same ball. But as soon as both of them reached near the ball, they took a dive and everyone got scared for once because it seemed that there was a direct collision between the two. This could have happened and a major accident could have been seen on the field.

It was a matter of relief that just before diving to take the catch, Cartwright saw Rauf and dived to the other side at the last moment. No one could catch the catch but apart from the two players, everyone present on the field heaved a sigh of relief that there was no collision between the two and no one got hurt.
Talking about the match, before this incident, Rauf terrorized the Thunder batsmen with his stormy balls. In front of Melbourne's strong bowling attack including Rauf and Tom Curran, Sydney's entire innings collapsed for 128 runs in exactly 20 overs. For that, Matthew Jilks scored 24 runs and Shadab Khan scored 25 runs. Rauf took 3 wickets, while Curran, Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Swepson got 2 wickets each. Stars won the match by 9 wickets on the basis of Joe Clark's explosive 60 runs and Glenn Maxwell's explosive 39 runs.
