The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has adopted a more flexible approach in granting No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to its players for overseas franchise leagues, a move that Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has welcomed.
The BCB recently granted Taskin an NOC to feature in the UAE-based ILT20 league, where he is currently representing the Sharjah Warriors. The board has also cleared left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman to play in IPL 2026, although his participation remains uncertain. Meanwhile, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has received an NOC to represent the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League, underlining the board’s growing openness after years of restrictive policies.
Speaking about the opportunity to play in the ILT20, Taskin praised the BCB for allowing players to explore global leagues and gain valuable exposure.
“Getting the NOC feels really good. The more you play, the more you learn especially when you share a dressing room with players from different cultures,” Taskin said, as quoted by Cricbuzz. “Every team has a different coaching staff and environment, and everyone brings unique experiences. All of that helps you grow as a cricketer.”
The right-arm pacer further explained how competing in overseas leagues sharpens both skills and mindset.
“In leagues like the ILT20, every team has a strong batting line-up, with quality batters coming one after another. It’s challenging for bowlers, but that challenge builds confidence. Even a five per cent improvement from these experiences can make a big difference for the national team,” he added.
Taskin also highlighted the benefits of exposure to different coaching philosophies and high-pressure environments.
“Playing abroad helps players understand new ways to prepare, recover, train, and think about the game. There’s constant pressure too, because as a foreign player, one or two poor games can cost you your place,” he said.
Taskin has been directly signed by the Dhaka Capitals for the upcoming BPL 2025–26 season, where he is expected to spearhead the team’s pace attack after missing the opening match on December 27.
He enters the BPL on the back of a solid ILT20 campaign, having picked up nine wickets in six matches, with best figures of 3/40 for the Sharjah Warriors.
