Maharashtra fast bowler Ramkrishna Ghosh took seven wickets against Himachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. This was the best bowling performance from Maharashtra in the tournament. However, despite Ankit Bawne’s inning of 97 runs, Maharashtra lost the match by seven runs.
Delhi: Maharashtra fast bowler Ramakrishna Ghosh has achieved great feat in domestic cricket. He created history by taking seven wickets against Himachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Despite this, under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Maharashtra had to lose this match by seven runs.
Ramakrishna Ghosh has become the first bowler for Maharashtra to take seven wickets in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Earlier this record was in the name of Dominic Muthuswamy. He took six wickets against Mumbai in 2014 and Maharashtra won that match.
So far, a total of ten bowlers have taken seven wickets in this tournament. At the same time, there have been two bowlers who have taken eight wickets in a match. Shahbaz Nadeem’s name is at the top of this list. He took eight wickets against Rajasthan in the year 2018.
On 29 December, Maharashtra won the toss and decided to bowl first. Ramakrishna Ghosh made a very good debut. He dismissed wicketkeeper batsman Inash Mahajan in his very first spell. After this, openers Ankil Kalsi and Ekant Sen also became his victims. He put Himachal Pradesh under pressure by taking three wickets in three overs.
On behalf of Himachal Pradesh, Pukhraj Maan held one end. He scored a brilliant century. Amanpreet Singh and Akash Vashistha got good starts in the middle overs, but they could not play big innings. For Maharashtra, Satjit Bachav and Rajvardhan Hungergekar took important wickets.
Ramakrishna Ghosh again came to bowl in the last overs. He broke the partnership by taking the wicket of Nitin Sharma. After this, in the 48th over he dismissed Pukraj Mann for 110 runs. In the last over, Ghosh dismissed Vaibhav Arora and Rohit Kumar and ended Himachal Pradesh’s innings at 271 runs. Ghosh took seven wickets for 42 runs in 9.4 overs.
Ramakrishna Ghosh was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL mega auction at a base price of Rs 30 lakh. However, he has not got a chance to play in IPL yet. This kind of performance in domestic cricket can bring new opportunities for him.
