Zimbabwe sealed a spot in the upcoming T20 World Cup on the back of a spotless campaign in the Africa Qualifier. On Friday, January 2, they named a 15-member squad for the marquee event, which is set to be played in India and Sri Lanka.

Star all-rounder Sikandar Raza will captain the Chevrons, who missed out on qualification to the global extravaganza in the previous edition in 2024.

The Zimbabwe squad has a fine mix of youth and experience. All eyes will be on Brian Bennett, who has established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the African nation.

Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Brendan Taylor will also want to showcase his class in what could be his last appearance in a major ICC event.

The seam-bowling attack, comprising Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava, could pose quite a challenge if the conditions provide some help. Meanwhile, the experienced leg-spinner, Graeme Cremer, will also have a key role to play as the conditions are expected to favour the spinners. He is likely to partner Wellington Masakadza as the two frontline tweakers in the Zimbabwe playing XI.

Apart from Taylor, Clive Madande has also been picked in the wicketkeeping department.

He was the top scorer in Zimbabwe's domestic tournament, slamming 152 runs in four games at an average of 76 and a strike rate of 138.18. Another batter to watch out for in the Zimbabwean line-up is Ryan Burl. The hard-hitting batter can also bowl handy leg-spin.

Despite the presence of some talented players, the duration of Zimbabwe's campaign would depend largely on Sikandar Raza's performance.

Zimbabwe are placed in Group B, along with Ireland, Oman, and former champions Australia and Sri Lanka. They will face Oman on February 9 to kick-start their campaign in the 20-team event.

All of Zimbabwe's group games will be held in Sri Lanka.
