Double attack of weather: Dense fog in plains, first snow in Uttarakhand, know the condition of other states

It has been raining in many districts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat since the first day of the new year. There was also a drop in temperature due to rain in Tamil Nadu, Delhi-Mumbai.

Hail fell for half an hour in Mawatha and Bikaner in 20 districts of Rajasthan. The mercury reached 5° in Jaipur. There is dense fog in 15 plains states including Madhya Pradesh, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Telangana.

Visibility has become zero in Kanpur, UP. The first snowfall of the season occurred in Niti Valley of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. There is snowfall alert in 4 districts today.

On the other hand, snowfall continues in Sonamarg, Pahalgam and Gulmarg of Jammu and Kashmir. Mughal Road and Sinthan Top Road, connecting Kashmir Valley with Jammu region, have been closed for vehicular movement.

January 3: Chances of rain and snowfall

  • Fog alert in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
  • Light rain may occur in low lying areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while snowfall may occur in higher reaches.

Meteorological Department’s claim – cold will end soon in Rajasthan

The Meteorological Department has predicted good rains in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the next three months (from January to March). IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that this time the cold will last for about three days in Bihar and North East states, whereas the cold in Rajasthan is expected to end soon.

Bihar: Orange alert of cold day, dense fog in 10 districts including Patna. Mercury in Samastipur 3.8°C

There is dense fog in 10 districts including Patna, Jehanabad, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Khagaria. It is record breaking cold in Samastipur. The temperature has reached 3.8 degrees. Orange alert of fog and cold-day has been issued in 38 districts on Friday.

Jharkhand: Signs of relief from cold after New Year, 6 year record broken in Jamshedpur, Gumla’s mercury 4.4 °C

There are signs of some relief from cold in Jharkhand at the beginning of the new year. Gumla district was the coldest recorded in the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature here was recorded at 4.4 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in the state is likely to gradually increase by 2-3 °C during the next two days.

The average minimum temperature in the state was 3.1°C above normal. There will be cold-day conditions in 12 districts in the next 24 hours.

Himachal Pradesh: Snowfall on high mountains, mercury in Kukumsairi -6.2 °C, cold wave warning for next 72 hours

Snowfall occurred in the higher altitude areas of the state during the last 24 hours. The temperature in many cities has gone into minus. The night temperature in Kukumsairi was minus -6.2 degrees. The Meteorological Department has warned of cold wave for the next 72 hours. There has been the least rainfall in December after 32 years.
