The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 will be the fourth edition of the T20 tournament, with the opener set to take place on January 9 in Navi Mumbai.
Players from Associate nations — countries that have established cricket but do not qualify for full membership in the International Cricket Council (ICC) — have been a part of the WPL over the last three years.
Associate nation players in the WPL
-
Tara Norris (USA) – Delhi Capitals
-
Kathryn Bryce (Scotland) – Gujarat Giants
-
Sarah Bryce (Scotland) – Delhi Capitals
According to the rules, WPL teams are permitted to field five overseas players, as long as the fifth player represents an Associate nation.
Tara Norris of the USA, who played in the inaugural season of the WPL with Delhi Capitals, was roped in by Up Warriorz in the 2026 auction.
But due to her national team selection for the T20 World Cup qualifier taking place in Nepal from January 18, she will not be available for the UP side. Charli Knott was named her replacement. This will mark the first year since its inception that the WPL has not featured an Associate nation player in a season.
