Bangladesh vs ICC: Bangladesh is planning to make another attempt to convince ICC. He is going to again ask ICC to reconsider his decision. Because, Bangladesh's Sports Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul says that the question is not only about security but also about the dignity of the country. In such a situation, he has reiterated his point of playing the T20 World Cup 2026 in Sri Lanka only. On the advice of Asif Nazrul, Bangladesh Cricket Board had demanded to change the venue of its T20 World Cup matches.
He had emailed a demand to ICC to shift his match to Sri Lanka, which ICC has rejected.Sports Advisor Dr Asif Nazrul said that after receiving ICC's reply, after reading it, it seemed as if it was not fully aware of the issue related to security of Bangladeshi cricketer in India. I feel that this is not only a security issue but has also become a matter of the dignity of the country. India has insulted Bangladesh. We are still looking at it only from the security perspective.
According to the fixed schedule of T20 World Cup 2026, Bangladesh has to play 4 matches in the group stage in two cities of India – Kolkata and Mumbai. After the exclusion of Mustafizur Rahman from IPL, Bangladesh Cricket Board had demanded to change these venues in its email to ICC. In response, ICC told them that they will have to play their matches as per the scheduled schedule.
But, it seems Bangladesh is not ready to accept ICC's answer.
Bangladesh's sports advisor Dr Asif Nazrul said that he is in no mood to make any compromise. Because the question is related to the safety of the players, the safety of Bangladesh and the dignity of Bangladesh. We want to play cricket. We want to play the World Cup but not in India, but in Sri Lanka, which is another venue for the tournament. He said that we are still firm on our point because we feel that we will be successful in convincing and persuading the ICC on this issue.
