Women Cricket Records: India’s pride in women’s cricket, Harmanpreet Kaur once again proved why big opportunities are meant for her. In the sixth match of the Women’s Premier League i.e. WPL (Women’s Premier League) 2026, she performed such a feat which made her special in the history of the league. In the match played on Tuesday, January 13, Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored a brilliant half-century against Gujarat Giants and made two big records with one stone.
This was the 10th 50+ score of Harmanpreet Kaur’s WPL career. With this, she has become the batsman with the most half-centuries in the Women’s Premier League. Earlier this record was in the names of Nat Sciver-Brunt of England and Meg Lanning of Australia, who had scored more than 50 runs 9 times each. Harmanpreet left both the giants behind and secured the first position in this list.
In this innings of Harman, not only the runs but also his experience and skill in handling the match were clearly visible. Staying at the crease in difficult times and then scoring runs quickly has become his identity. This is the reason why Harmanpreet Kaur is still considered the backbone of Mumbai Indians’ batting.
With this half-century, Harmanpreet Kaur made another big record in her name. She became the batsman to score the fifth half-century against Gujarat Giants. She is the first player in the history of WPL to score so many half-centuries against any one team. This figure clearly shows his dominance against Gujarat.
During this match, Harmanpreet Kaur completed 1000 runs in WPL. With this, she became the first batsman from India and second batsman in the world to score 1000 or more runs in this league. Only Nat Skeever-Brunt (1101 runs) is ahead of him in this list. Harmanpreet left behind legendary players like Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry in this matter.
This performance of Harmanpreet Kaur is not limited to just personal records, but it also shows the strength and consistency of Indian women’s cricket. Consistent performance on a platform like WPL proves that Indian players are no longer behind on any platform in the world.
