Delhi: New Zealand’s victory in the second ODI played in Rajkot was not just a match win, but was also very special in terms of records. In this match, New Zealand changed many old statistics by defeating India. In the match, India scored 284 runs with KL Rahul’s century and captain Shubman Gill’s half-century. In reply, thanks to Daryl Mitchell’s century, the Kiwi team won the match in just 47.3 overs.

New Zealand made special records

This was New Zealand’s first win in ODI cricket against India since 2023. Earlier, New Zealand had to face defeat in 8 consecutive ODI matches against India. At the same time, this victory in India was even more special, because for the first time after 2017, New Zealand was successful in defeating India in ODI.

The target of 285 runs achieved in Rajkot was the biggest successful run chase of New Zealand so far in India. Earlier, his biggest run chase on Indian soil was 283 runs, which he completed against England in the World Cup 2023.

Apart from this, this match also proved to be special on the ground of Rajkot. In the last four ODI matches played on this ground, only the team batting first had won. But, in this match, the run chasing team won after five matches.

This was New Zealand’s fourth highest successful run chase in ODI against Team India. Earlier, New Zealand had achieved bigger targets against India in Hamilton, Auckland and Mount Maunganui.

With all these records, this victory of New Zealand not only leveled the series at 1-1 but also proved to be a confidence booster.
