Delhi: Amid the ongoing dispute with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the troubles of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) seem to be increasing continuously. The comments of a senior board official have created such a controversy, the impact of which is now directly visible on the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025-26.

BCB Director M. Nazmul Islam had recently given a controversial statement regarding the players. Angered by this comment, the players united and started demanding his resignation. Players say that such comments are not only an insult to them, but also harm the atmosphere of cricket.

When no decision was taken by the board to remove Nazmul Islam from the post, the players took a tough stand and announced a boycott of the Bangladesh Premier League 2025-26. On the day of the scheduled match, the players did not leave from the hotel for the stadium. For this reason the match could not start and questions were raised on the organization. According to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, the players have clearly said that unless M. Nazmul Islam resigns, they will not be ready to play any kind of cricket.

First statement backfired, now notice

After the players’ protest, BCB had earlier distanced itself from Nazmul Islam’s statement and said that it was his personal opinion. However, as the pressure increased, the board has now adopted the path of formal action against him and has issued a show cause notice to him.

On this entire matter, Bangladesh Cricket Board has issued a statement saying that formal disciplinary process has been started against the concerned board member. They have been instructed to give a written reply within 48 hours. The board also made it clear that the matter will be investigated as per the prescribed procedure and further action will be decided based on the response.
